Romsey Home Cinema & Home AV

Our client who was very satisfied with our service at his previous home instructed us to design a system and implement this with his M&E contractor.

We produced detailed drawings and schematics for the cabling infrastructure as well as layouts and renders of the Cinema room cabinetry and AV hub space and access requirements.

The system had to provide robust internet access with full remote diagnostics and monitoring, we accomplished this with the use of a Crestron Home system and Ubiquity network. Being in control of the network and its implementation, we are able to make system configuration changes remotely when required.

‘We are able to make system configuration changes remotely when required.’

The M&E company originally specified Lutron hardware for the lighting control partly as the client had some aspects in their previous home. At the outset we provided a project proposal detailing why we were recommending the Crestron Home system for Lighting/Heating and Control, the simplicity of setup and configuration yet the power it provides is unequalled.

Following a visit to our demonstration facilities they could see immediately what we had proposed and why it was the better option in this case.

With a project of this size many planning meetings are required with the different vendors and attention to detail and documentation is key to the success of projects such as this.

Before ground was broken on this new build, everyone knew exactly what to expect and when it was to take place. Meetings with the M&E company on site and our free issue of necessary cabling & equipment helped keep everything on track, it’s very important to make great relationships with all of the projects service providers.

We recommended Bang & Olufsen products for the distributed audio system, we realised early on they would compliment the outstanding attention to detail of the homes design.

The Crestron Home App allows selecting from On-Line radio or their CD music collection in all rooms and this is played through installed speakers or freestanding products. Viewing of TV, Sky and Bluray is possible on every TV in UHD using the Crestron network streaming range of products.

‘A visit to Dawsons’ home cinema suite instantly persuaded us to change the specification from a large TV to a screen and projector!’

“Our initial brief to Dawsons was for automated lighting in the main living areas, hall and kitchen, AV throughout the house and a large TV room with excellent cinema quality sound.

However, on understanding more about the Crestron system we added lighting controls to all the exterior lighting (security lights, courtesy lights, drive lights, tree uplighters and a water feature).

Our one regret is that we didn’t just do the whole house using Crestron. The versatility and ease of control using mobile devices is first class.

A visit to Dawsons’ new home cinema suite instantly persuaded us to change the specification from a large TV to a screen and projector! Our 7m x 5m room was ideal to take a 115” screen with cupboards either side.

One side houses the AV/Data/BT equipment for the entire house as well as the fire and intruder systems. Dawsons took a lead on designing this area. Seeing it all working well in one cupboard area is very impressive. To the other side of the screen is our BluRay library.

My wife and I love the cinema room which has a truly a fantastic sound system and we spend a lot of time re-watching our entire library of old BluRay movies.

We use the cinema room to watch Sky Sport, Netflix and BluRay/UHDs. We think the screen size is perfect for the room and it attracts a great amount of attention from visitors.”
